Why I Don't Craft

I decided to be adventurous this weekend. I decided to venture into Michael's and actually buy crafty stuff. There were big plans afoot.

Until everything went awry. Like it always does when I attempt to use glue or glitter or scissors or tape.
See? I told you I was craft-challenged.

Just don't ask.

On the upside, you know those fabulous Mistletoe and Pine scented Yankee candles that can almost smell like a real tree? Well, Michael's has these guys on sale for $3.99, and I cannot tell the difference between the two smells.
I think I'll stick to spray paint and candles from now on and leave the glitter to the professionals.

If it makes you feel any better, the glitter colors you chose were really pretty! ;)

It's the thought that counts, riiight? :) And I agree with PP.

You are good to laugh at yourself!

They don't let me play with scissors here at the home and are afraid I might eat the glue...so I leave the crafting to the pros! I just buy it when it's ready to go!!!

I think you just used the wrong glue. And glitter is hard! It's not my favorite either. But I'm sure you can do it!

I too am glitter-challenged...it's like my crafty achilles' heel.

Yeah there are reasons that I also don't craft. Other than hot gluing my fingertips together, which happens all the time and is pretty much unavoidable, I lack artistic vision and um, any kind of coordination. At least you're a heck of a decorator!

I don't think I know a single soul who is glitter-efficient. I give you an E for effort! (o:

Lol, you tried! I adore the blue glitter too. Next time (if your ever game) use a spray adhesive- you can find it right there in Michaels next to all that Aleenes tacky stuff. The spray is awesome!

It's okay that you don't craft, because you do everything else so beautifully, and now I know we have at least one thing in common. ;)

Glitter is a total pain. i'm sure you will be finding it everywhere for days to come, too. but a nobel attempt!

I started doing a house tour! (www.nicolitalove.blogspot.com) I did some spray painting, inspired by your projects, and now I can't stop myself. Anything that can be spray painted I'm eye-ing...

Oh, gawd... laughing sooo hard. Yep, glitter just makes a mess for me too. I decorate with my charge card in decor stores instead of craft store. LOL

LOLOL This is too much. Have you submitted it to craft fail yet?

you just need to find something that works for you. Obviously you weren't meant to be a glitter-er. :) (me either!)

but good try! :)

One more reason to love you...

I don't ever use glitter. It make a huge mess and Dan hate it. He actually likes the phrase, "Glitter is the herpes of the craft world." Because it gets on EVERYTHING.

I think I can catch the idea you had and I liked the direction you were going. But yeah, I'm not really a crafter either. I fake it well sometimes...when I'm in "the zone," but I can't force the creativity. I have to wait until it hits at random and then rush to Michael's before it's over. I don't always make it home in time.

Just think of the glitter as pixie dust and you're spreading it all around for everyone to enjoy. Beautiful color too!

Liz -

I FOREVER burn, glue or impale one of my fingers when I get crafty!

I grew up with a television show that was called "The Ray Rayner Show" and the host (Ray) would have these wonderful looking Crafty things that he would try to duplicate on the show and across the board they were awful. So in my family we say “it looked like Ray Rayner’s” and we all have a good laugh knowing exactly what is meant!!

Glitter is a messy beast. Have you seen December's M. Stewart Living magazine yet?! Glitter galore...I love it!

I am so with you there! Anything to do with glitter, glue, stamping, cutting in a straight line (even with a paper cutter), etc. turns into a big disaster if I try.

I glittered on the weekend and it's still stuck to my face. I always wanted to sparkle...!

Stick with it. Glitter is worth it!

Glitter is messy and not easy to work with~ at least you gave it a try. Does not look like you made to big of a mess and the color is wonderful! Have fun with it!

Thanks for sharing your craft disaster. I have yet to work with glitter as I am sure mine would end up worse than this.

So what's a little glitter dusted all around the house? I LOVE glitter--it makes everything look better! Now if only my husband thought so too! lol

Yep. Right there.

Ah, I'm a great "planner." It's the execution part where I fail. I have an entire craft store in my closet because I never get around to doing all those things I envision. Just this weekend I gave my sister (who WILL do stuff) my Cricut Expression because it has been used ONCE in 6 months...when I took it out of the box initially! I feel your pain. C

I'm not much of a glitter crafter either. I don't really care to see it falling out of my hair or swirling in the washing machine for days after my attempt at creativity. I'll stick to fabric, paint pens and a hot glue gun.

This made my day! hehe Liz you crack me up.

love you for your honesty Liz. It's why I always return again and again. I'm a real messy crafter. Some turn out nicely others get thrown in the rubbish. Hey but at least you did something with your glitter. I buy it and it sits there looking at me wondering why I never open it.

This post cracks me up! What a hoot!

Oh, man. That looks familiar. Glitter and I have never been friends.

This post cracked me up! I do craft, but the one thing I refuse to use in crafts? Glitter.

Because it gets *everywhere*. And nothing, I mean nothing, attracts glitter like a bald man's head. That stuff sticks around for days -- suddenly, I look over at my husband and I'm thinking, "Hrm... what is that... oh! Glitter!" Ugh.

So pretty, but glitter: you are dead to me.
