The Perfect Plate Arrangement

OK. Here's what I've discovered. Arranging plates on the wall is like trying to figure out a trigonometry problem. Seriously.

I've arranged and rearranged patterns on the living room floor. I've photographed said patterns. I've scoured the internet. None of it worked. Half of the plates I collected didn't even look right.

In the end I just slapped my favorites up on the wall and took a break. I figure I'll just let it grow organically and unplanned. That's a super fancy way of saying, "Eh, it'll do."

But all joking aside, I really do love these plates.

P.S. How's the fasting going? Good so far! I've been pretty busy and haven't had time to think about shopping. Let's just wait and see how I fare over the upcoming three day weekend.

I think the plate arrangement (or non-arrangement) looks absolutely lovely. As for the fasting, I'm right there with you on trying to abstain, but I think the upcoming 3-day weekend is going to be hard!

I love your plate arrangement, but I can totally relate to the difficulty in hanging them. I see all of the strategies for "easily" creating gallery walls and such, but it doesn't work for me. It seems that I am only able to make decisions about wall arrangements once I've nailed dozens of extra holes in the wall. My husband LOVES it!

Omighosh! The granny-looking plate with the bug-eye lizard on it--where DID you find that? (Or did you make that?) I love the "Eh" method of slapping plates on the wall. It's so easy to do. Works for flower arranging, too, and you don't have to feel badly that your bouquet doesn't resemble anything Martha Stewart would do.

@ The Crafty Hun @ Juli: the bee and chameleon plates are from Anthropologie. Christmas presents. I didn't break my spending fast! :)

Gorgeous. And when you tire of the insect/frog plates, I know a lady (myself) that would just LOVE them. K, thanx

Been working on a plate wall myself. I love these hangers, which don't show, seem very sturdy, and best of all don't damage plates. If I position them carefully, I can still use the plates although they become hand wash only.
