And as a side note, in the spirit of full disclosure, my spending fast fell off the wagon this weekend. When Matt pointed at my new pink sweater and ruffled silk top from Target, I blustered out the super intelligent excuse: "But... everything was on clearance for 75% off. Plus, they look like clothes from Anthropologie, and they were only $13. Do you know how much that would have been at Anthro? Like $125 and..." He started to laugh and I realized how preposterous I sounded. Sigh. I'm not as strong as I thought I was. But I am re-vowing (is that even a word?) to get back on the wagon today. Deep breath. Try again.

re-vowing is totally ok.
i do that everytime.
cause there is always a second or a third chance or a....
Target clearance is like kryptonite for no-spending vows, but thankfully that wagon moves slowly, so we can climb back on. (mixed metaphors, but not mixed signals)
Poor Jane :( Not sure if you've tried Hyland's Teething Tablets yet. They are a real lifesaver, especially for helping the babes sleep. They were recalled for a bit but are now back on the market with child safe packaging. You can find them at CVS and Target. Just watch out for those clearance racks ;). I fell victim to those last week in the baby section last week.
Laughing at the Anthro comparison. I used it a few weeks back when I spied a ruffled shower curtain for $4 I just HAD TO HAVE!
Teething is rough on everyone. I know it!
It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes: "If at first you don't succeed, fail again, fail better." Good luck on your re-vow!
i bet you could sneak "revowing" by in a words with friends game, so that makes it a word.
I've been on a spending fast for a few years now, after I drastically reduced the amount of junk I had. I find if I have something I am saving up for, even if I never actually get said item or go on said vacation, it is a lot easier to not spend. I can look at an item and think what I could do with that money later, and it is a lot easier to put it back on the rack.
note to self: get to target and look at their clearance!!

You're so funny! Like of of us girls, you just wanna have fun and spend money.. LOL
Hey There! You don't know me but I've been following your blog for a while... Love it! Have you tried chamomilla (or similar) for Jane's teething? Here in South Africa I use a pediatric product for my little one's teething - it's basically a combo of chamomile, belladonna and arnica. Totally herbal, totally works! Emily is fifteen months and she's sprouting her sixteenth tooth. And it's all good! And that's my ten cents of unsolicited advice. Have a lovely day!
I cannot even tell you how many times I justify a Target purchase with those exact words. "it looks like it's from Anthro!". Hope Jane feels better soon!
lol... me too. But when I fell off I made a bigger splash. $140 in fabric and a quilting class. Really? Is that what I needed to spend my money on (and time), when I have law school, work, a baby? I am so re-vowing too.
Re-vowing is fine! I have to keep myself away from the clearance rack at any store because I have used that reasoning too. :) Good luck with Jane's teething, we are going through the same thing with our 10 month old. It sure isn't fun!
Could it fall under, "renewing your vows?" Sort of like marriage but in a different way.
When my boys were teething, we gave them a pacifier looking thing with a net on the end that goes in their mouth. We used frozen yogurt and frozen fruit. He loved it and it soothed his gums. My friends said to try ice but, he never went for it. Good luck! It will be over soon. :)
