I've been doing a lot of thinking about my sponsor set up. All bloggers have that form letter they send to people inquiring about sponsorships...
"For $20 a month you get this size ad, and for $40 a month you get this size ad..."
And then there's gigantic blogs...
"For $250 a month you get..."
Yikes.
I've also been thinking about how I can use this blog for something good.
Matt and I have been blessed with good jobs. I don't make my income off Mabel's House. It's my labor of love. A creative outlet. And maybe that's all it should ever be.
So here's the deal. I'm taking sponsors on with a twist.
I'm very passionate about the work done at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I love that they have a "no one gets turned away" policy. That means they provide care for lots and lots of uninsured children. Which means they don't get paid. Which means they can use all the help they can get.
God has blessed us with a healthy baby. I want everyone to have that chance.
So if you're interested in getting a sponsor spot on my side bar (and a weekly shout out for new sponsors in post form), make a $10 donation to St. Jude's here. That will get you one month's advertising (and a giveaway spot if you're interested). Email me (mabelsblog(at)yahoo(dot)com) w/ some form of a receipt or confirmation from your donation and submit a 125X125 image and link for your spot.
So what do I have to offer you? Well, my blog isn't gigantic, but it's also not tiny. I get around 50,000 page views per month. And remember, sponsor spots are for anyone: blogs, etsy sellers, ebay'ers, authors, etc. Please consider it. And if you're not interested, maybe spread the word to your friends. I'd love to do something good with my time. And I know you would too.

Love,Love,Love this idea!! Awesome Liz :)
Very nice.
Good on you!
I am even tempted to participate... in some capacity, but then I remember that I don't know how to create a badge...
and is it true, about the form letter? Man, even after nine years blogging, I still feel amateur-lame!
That's no problem Natalie. Just send me a square pic of what you want the badge to look like and the link you want it connected to and I'll be happy to resize it for you. :)
So awesome! I have a deep love for St. Jude as they are helping a family friend tremendously! You are awesome!
What a fabulous idea! If I get back into making my stamped jewelry I'll DEFINITELY participate!
I love the way you think!
What a fantastic idea! Yours is one of the first blogs I ever started following and among my inspirations for starting my own blog 9 months ago. Will seriously think about this sponsorship opportunity and will remember the principle behind it when/if I ever start taking sponsors myself.
Cheers!
Lesley
Awesome idea. I regularly donate to them and our local children's hospital which also has the same moto. We had our first visit to ours and while we can pay for it I know others can't. Children should never be turned away. I think it is great what you are doing.
You are such a fabulous person! I donate to St. Jude's on a regular basis as they are such a fabulous organization!
To whom much is given, much is expected....LOVE this idea little lady.
p.s. Great picture of you two cute gals.
Awesome idea! St. Jude's is a fantastic organization. I just donated. My confirmation # is 1631534. How do I send you my badge?
A beautiful idea. I often think of how lucky I am to have a healthy, happy baby. Something I should never, ever take for granted.
And I'm sorry, but Jane is C-U-T-E!
Just wanted to say you are awesome. Seriously. It is so refreshing to read a blog that isn't about the money.
Liz......I'm speechless and in tears....I have followed you for years and absolutely love your site! We live in North Louisiana and I have dreamed of one day making my way North to meet you guys! This post about St Jude blew me away because out of the all the blogs I read daily, yours is the only one I am aware of that takes sponsors without personal payment. The other reason it struck me so? Well, for 8 years now, my daughter(my only child) has been a St Jude patient. You are right, they are wonderful and only take what insurance pays(if you have it) and the parent is never out any many. They also house and feed us while we are there. I have raised her as a single mother so I can't imagine having gone through all of her medical struggles without St Jude! Thank you so much for pledging to raise money for them! If you'd like, you can read more about my Shelbi at www.caringbridge.org/visit/shelbimae
What a great idea! You are awesome!
What an awesome idea! I hope you'll get oodles of sponsors!
Hi ladies, thank you and I'm so glad you approve! @Anne Kimball... if you'll send your 125X125 image and link to my email mabelsblog(at)yahoo(dot)com I'll get things started! Thank you so much!
How awesome!! If I ever get a blog or an Etsy store or write a book I'm coming to your blog first!
What a great way to use your talents to do good in the world.
