There Are Toys. Everywhere.

Our house has become Jane's playground. It was only a matter of time.

I just didn't know it would happen so quick. This morning I tried so hard to clean every last inch of the house. I put all the toys away, stacked books, folded laundry.

Nothing escaped my watchful eye. Or so I thought.
Then I found this little guy. Carefully tucked on top of my magazines. No idea how he got there. No idea who put him there. But it's official. There are toys everywhere.

It only gets worse. :) Before we had children I said, "I'm not going to have toys all over my house. They'll stay in their room and the kids can just play in there." Little did I know, it doesn't really work that way. They sort of come and take over your life. Toys and kids. It's a good thing. :)

I have to echo what Catie said. It does get worse. I'm currently scheming about how to deal with the problem. It's driving me out of my mind.

lol, i thought at first we were supposed to look for the toy in the background behind the photo of you. I thought maybe you didn't see it until after you took the photo. ;)

Good luck with that :) I always tell myself that it's really such a short amount of time that they love toys, and it makes me love them a little more too... (and then I buy cute toys that I like to play with/see lying around!)

Welcome to motherhood! I had a few years where my house stayed picked up but now I have 2 grandchildren and I love seeing the mess of toys again. And love, love, love your hair.

Time to face it, Girlie...She wins. And always will. And that's OK. She is your little girl. Forever - toys and all.

this is totally no related to the toy situation at all.... but what shoes were you wearing with your outfit? i've tried wearing my long dress in winter, but can't seem to find the right shoe.
on the toy note: it's a game to Jane, or Mabel-either one. hide the toy and see which one the adults NEVER find. :)

lol...we can totally relate to toys taking over! Our entire house is Lani's playpen. I tried to stay on top of cleaning them up, but it was so tiring that now I just play too...Lani won't be little forever. She won't want to play in the floor with mommy forever...embrace. enjoy. clean later...lol. :)

lol... just wait until Jane's walking. My little guy puts his toys everywhere, or carries things, like his comb, places and then drops it where no one will ever find it again. Or at least until I step on it in the middle of the night.

And I love your haircut!

My son is 2 and omg it's nuts! I'm constantly organizing and rotating them and trying to incorporate them into my home decor because there's no way around it,lol! But, I aways think of the day he'll be moved out and I'll wish for them back. I love having the reminders that he's here for now :)

Oh yes, I can relate! Before baby I remember thinking we would make our home look like adults lived there no matter what. That hasn't happened so much. And I'm okay with it.

Being a mommy you never have your house perfect any longer. Even when you think it is perfect there will be a hidden Barbie shoe or a set of finger prints left somewhere. Such sweet little reminders of the little ones that put those marks not just around the home but in our hearts! You are such an amazing mommy! Thanks for letting us peak into your life through your blog!

Your house will never be only yours again. When my kids were younger I said the same thing-they will keep their toys in their rooms and play there. Alas, not the case. Almost 11 years later, my house is still not my own! I find my kids items EVERYWHERE! But it makes me smile as it means my house is a busy place with healthy and happy people! There will be plenty of time for it to be "neat" when they are all grown up! Of course, the occasional company helps to spur on the clean-up! BTW I am new to your blog and LOVED your book. Thank you very much for sharing your life and wisdom!
